July 3rd and 4th
Went fishing for bass on these days. July 3rd: For the first time that I can remember I was skunked. I did manage to hook up with two small bass but they both got off before I could land them. I was using the Yum crawdad, spinner and swimin’ minnow, wave worm in black and red, black air tail worm, riverside craw, hula popper frog on my fly rod, a small black crawdad on my fly rod and nothing… The 4th again I tried all of the above and nothing. Tied on a Zoom ribbon tail worm (pumpkinseed) and caught one bass and missed three small bites, (could have been bluegill). I thought I’d try for catfish with nightcrawleres toward evening and caught three; one approximately 2 lbs and the others about 3 lbs. Of course I let them go as usual. And I did miss one that took off into a brush pile and broke my line (six lb test) And I caught one bass on a nightcrawler, a small one. That’s all the action for now.
Tight lines to all

Hi Dad, Your new blog looks great! Timm says you’re getting lots of hits which means people are visiting and reading what you write. The picture of the 21″ fish is great, Timm said you uploaded the picture yourself.
We went to Stani and Stefan’s yesterday for a summer party. It was fun, David and Lauren, Zadee and Joel were there too. I talked to Zadee for a while, she had fun at camp and as a nice friend named Jessica. She said for 22 days straight, either Zadee was sleeping over at Jessica’s or visa versa! They’re really good friends, I met Jessica when we went to Kings Island for Zadee’s 13th b-day. She’s nice, funny and has lots of energy.
At the party, Joel was having fun with Stani’s little 3 year old boy, Daniel. They played in the basement most of the time. Joel kept coming up and he was all sweaty, I guess they were jumping around a lot down there! Doing what little boys do…
Anyway, all is well here. We’re heading to Florida the first week of August to see Timm’s dad, he’s not doing well at all. It’s good we’re going.
I saw a new bird at the feeder yesterday, it’s called a rose-breasted grosbeak. He’s got a big beak and red breast (of course, hence the name). I saw another kind of bird, there were 2 of them in a rose thicket, while walking around our wildflower loop but I can’t figure out what it was. I’ll have to see if I can see them again.
I going outside now and work on the driveway now, I’m about 1/3 of the way down. We got a new tractor battery so I can use the tractor bucket vs. hauling the rocks by hand in a bucket. It should go faster. We got 3/4″ of rain last night so the ground/gravel should be pretty to dig.
Have fun fishing! Tell Mom I said that I love her. And I love you too!
